It's the truth; PureEdit has been released for a total of five full days now and it has already reached a very large number of viewers. The amount of traffic has surpassed my personal blog by thousands. I have had to reset my bandwidth for PureEdit a total of 7 times. In fact, my server went down last night and I would like to say that it's probably because of the large amount of traffic the community has seen.
So anyway, to the point now; PureEdit has received a lot of feedback. From designers with feature requests, to programmers submitting their plug-ins. Even the techy guys/gals have sent feedback regarding how fast PureEdit is compared to other popular systems, including WordPress.
The Present
When I first released PureEdit I thought that a simple email form and my blog comments would fulfill the communication needs of early adopters. I was wrong. PureEdit has outgrown my blog and wimpy contact form. It has become very hard to manage all the feedback and it is even harder for the community to communicate with each other.
If you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you that I am the world's most organized person — so when I get mass emails, form submissions, and comments — and I have no formal way to categorize them, it bothers me. It becomes hard trying to remember who said what and what I have said to whom.
So, with that being said, I have built a community where all PureEdit adopters can share, talk, and collaborate with each other.
The Future
Of course, since PureEdit is in its early stages it's assumed that there will be small problems. And believe me I have heard about even the big problems — thanks to those who have taken the time to submit their bugs!
Here are my plans: I am going to push one or two more updates to hopefully knock out a lot of the major bugs and issues we are having. Then after those two updates, I am going to put together some material to help keep the community organized and updated on what I plan to release in the PureEdit 'Package', and what I plan to keep as an add-on. I also have plans to put together something to allow the community to better track add-ons and fields, like a download/developer area. Then, one day I feel that PureEdit may outgrow the makeshift 'Bug Reporting & Tracking' category in the forums so I might have to put together a system more suited for bug tracking — we will see.
That's a Wrap!
PureEdit is just starting out and there is a lot of work to do! Thanks to everyone who has been early supporters!
