I've been working hard to develop a smart and powerful algorithm that uses Dribbble's open API to find and rate popular Shots tagged with mobile related keywords. I don't want talk too much about how the algorithm rates shots just yet (I may open-source it) but I'm excited that it factors in many parameters such as popularity vs date range.
That means CSSiphone is no longer curated by only me - it's now powered by our favorite form of inspiration: Dribbble.
Why the pivot?
A decade ago we all had our favorite CSS Galleries we frequented. CSSBeauty, CSSRemix, CSSMani, etc - then mobile hit and we needed a new form of inspiration. That's where the first version of CSSiphone came from.
Dribbble reinvented the meaning of inspiration in 2009; it wasn't long after that we naturally quit visiting CSS Galleries; their ad revenues decreased; and they became ghost towns. Looking forward, I realized I don't even use CSSiphone anymore so why would anyone else? A brainstorming session or two happened and the idea for the next CSSiphone was discovered.
